PORT ARTHUR —
The City Manager, after conferring with emergency personnel and top staff, issued the following notice regarding the operations of the city government in Port Arthur.
All non-essential personnel that reported as originally instructed at 10 a.m. Friday will be released at a time to be determined by the city manager’s office.
In addition, personnel previously identified for the delivery of emergency services will be in receipt of instruction from their respective departments.
Mass transit operations have been suspended for fixed routes for the entire day of Jan. 24. The emergency and handicapped division will accommodate on a case by case basis.
Police and fire protection will be provided to Sabine Pass and Pleasure Island with the placement of personnel specifically at those two locations.
The Police Department encourages you to not drive on roadways if possible until ice conditions subside.
