PAPD investigates potential suicide

PORT ARTHUR — Officers with the Port Arthur Police Department found Wallis Mendoza Gervacio, 47, dead on Thursday after responding to a call about a potential suicide at Gervacio’s residence, 2735 Ninth St.

Investigators believe that Gervacio committed suicide, Sgt. Scott Gaspard, PAPD Criminal Investigation Division, said in a press release. No foul play is suspected at this time.

Milka Talavera was found murdered at the same residence on May 16, and her husband, Gervacio, was suspected in that crime, according to the release.

“Investigators are awaiting forensic testing results in that case for a final determination and disposition,” the release states. “The couple’s three small children remain in the custody of Child Protective Services at an undisclosed location for their safety.”
