DA office hires new ADA

BEAUMONT — District Attorney Cory J. H. Crenshaw announced the hiring of a new Assistant District Attorney assigned to the Beaumont office.

Assistant District Attorney Bridgette L. Williams was administered the Oath of Office by Criminal District Court Judge John Stevens, Jr., Monday before a small crowd of friends and government officials in the Criminal District Court.

Williams was born in Alabama and graduated from Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Ala., with a bachelor’s degree in English in 2009.

In 2012, she graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas.  Williams was admitted to the Texas Bar and began her career with the City of Port Arthur City Attorney’s Office in 2013. She mainly prosecuted individuals in violation of municipal housing and environmental ordinances. Williams became a solo practitioner earlier this year practicing criminal and family law.

Williams is assigned to County Court at Law No. 3 where she will handle a wide variety of misdemeanor cases and appear before Judge Langston Adams. The hiring of Williams was the result of a selection process in May of this year which included more than 70 applications from interested attorneys from across the state.

Criminal District Attorney Cory Crenshaw said, “My office is currently prosecuting more than 10,000 criminal cases and we need top notch attorneys to help us achieve our goals of bringing justice to victims of crime and doing our part to restore the community’s faith in law and order. We are always pleased when we do not have to look far to find an outstanding young lawyer such as Ms. Williams.”
