PN burglary suspect may be linked to other crimes

PORT NECHES — A Port Neches homeowner chased a burglary suspect around his property and fired one shot at the intruder early Wednesday morning.

Port Neches Police responded to the incident at about 4:37 a.m. May 14 in the 700 block of Bella Vita Drive, according to a press release from PNPD.

The suspect was last seen running across Merriman Street towards Miller Street. A K-9 from Port Arthur Police Department tracked the suspect to near East Kitchen and Miller where investigators believe the suspect may have fled in a vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, between 6-foot to 6-foot 1-inch in height, thin build. He was wearing a dark colored hoodie and dark pants.

Investigators have surveillance video of a suspect from other recent burglaries and attempted burglaries in the area and they believe it is the same suspect.

Since this burglary, officers have responded to another burglary in the Thomas Haven subdivision and a similar incident in the River Oaks subdivision. This is all within a half mile radius of Bella Vita Drive.

This particular incident occurred near Ridgewood Elementary school. As a precautionary measure, additional officers were placed at the school this morning, but we do not believe there is any danger to the students or staff due to this incident.
