BC man dead after motorcycle, car crash near bridge

BRIDGE CITY — Brian Babcock, 56, of Bridge City, died Monday after the motorcycle he was driving was in a collision near the foot of the Rainbow Bridge in Orange County.

At approximately 6 a.m. Monday, Department of Public Safety  Troopers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Texas 87.  According to the investigating Trooper, a 2005 Pontiac car was traveling southbound in the inside lane (left lane) and a 2010 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling southbound in the outside lane of the highway.  

The driver of the Pontiac told investigators the driver of the motorcycle veered from the outside lane into the inside lane for an unknown reason.  The driver of the Pontiac struck the driver of the motorcycle.

The driver of the Pontiac, 30 year old, Angel Bowman of Orange, received minor injuries.  The driver of the motorcycle was transported in critical condition by Acadian Ambulance to St. Mary hospital in Port Arthur, where he was pronounced dead at 6:51 a.m.

The investigation into the crash is continuing.
