The Wednesday edition of The Port Arthur News will be delivered late today or possibly with the Thursday edition and The Orange Leader will be delivered Thursday because of a lightning strike that knocked out power and damaged printing equipment at Triangle Press.
The e-editions of both papers are online and available to subscribers. Click here to access the e-edition.
Lightning hit a utiilty pole near the Triangle Press facility on MLK in Orange when a line of thunderstorms moved through late Tuesday afternoon, knocking a transformer to the ground and setting it on fire. Triangle Press prints both The Port Arthur News and The Orange Leader as well as numerous other publications. Entergy responded to the area and restored power at about midnight. Once power was restored, damage to the press was discovered and arrangements were made to print the two newspapers at an alternate location.
Technicians are working to repair the damage to the press as soon as possible.
"We apologize for any inconvenience," Bobby Tingle, ciriculation director, said. "Thank you for subscribing and thank you for understanding."
