Port Arthur City Council has narrowed the list of candidates for a new city manager to four, but has not named those applicants as finalists.
The city has yet to release the candidates’ names publicly, prompting The Port Arthur News to submit an open records request for the public information.
District 5 Councilman John Beard said the City Council considered a list of 15 candidates Tuesday during a special executive meeting, and narrowed the number of applicants down to four.
The selection process thus far has been conducted in a blind fashion, meaning the candidates’ identities are not known to anyone other than The Mercer Group, the firm hired by the city to lead in the search for a new manager.
