Kerygma Coffee House opens in PN

PORT NECHES — Seated at a table at the recently opened Kerygma Coffee House Tanya Faulk sipped a cup of fresh brewed coffee and as she looked over some of her work.

“I feel comfortable coming here,” Faulk said of the coffee house located at 1417 Magnolia Ave., in Port Neches. “You can use the free wi-fi and get a great cup of coffee.”

But there’s more than coffee on Mark Williamson’s menu at the coffee house. He also sells cappuccinos, latte’s, macchiatos and frappucino as well as pastries. He has a variety of flavored syrups and even has sugar-free syrups.

The shop sports top of the line equipment to make the specialties but there’s more going on than just coffee.

“Coffee, conversation and prayers are always welcome,” is Williamson’s motto. Even the name of the shop — kerygma — harkens to the Greek word used for the teaching of the Gospel of Christ.

Williamson once worked at a fabrication shop until there was a reduction in force then one day he saw the property that would come home to the coffee shop.

“I stood there watching the cars buzz by. I prayed about it,” he said.

At that time a nail shop was located in the plaza, he said. He asked the nail shop managers if they would be kind enough to move next door, and they did. In return he fixed up their new place while fixing up his own.

Faulk said the shop is a good place for people to sit down and study, share fellowship and have a good cup of coffee.

Williamson is now working on a drive-through to better serve his customers.
