The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man whose body was located in the Neches River near the Purple Heart Bridge earlier this month.
The man has been identified as Desmond Gerard O’Hara, 35, of Beaumont.
O’Hara was located about 6 p.m. Sunday, May 5. He was reported missing by his family to Beaumont Police Department on Feb. 16. The cause and manner of death has not been determined as of this date, according to a press release from Orange County Sheriff’s office.
Orange County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Judge Dunn conducted the death inquiry and ordered an autopsy and the body was transported to the Jefferson County Forensic Medical Center for autopsy and identification. According to Dr. Wayne, forensic pathologist, the cause and manner of death was not able to be determined at the time of the autopsy due to the decomposed condition of the victim. The pathologist advised that toxicology and other further testing is going to be done to try to determine cause and manner and also to try and determine the identity of the deceased.
