ORANGE — EDITOR'S NOTE: This article has been amended to reflect Jessica Evans' correct employer, major and expected graduation date.

A 28-year-old Orange woman is dead after an automobile accident early Saturday morning.

Jessica Evans was pronounced dead on the scene by Justice of the Peace Janice Menard following a one vehicle wreck in the 6300 block of South Lutcher in Orange, according to an release from the Orange Police Department.

A 2004 graduate of Orangefield High School, Evans was a single mother to 3-year-old twins Jackson and Jillian. She worked at Belcan, a corporation with DuPont, and was on track to graduate with her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Lamar University in 2015.

Close friend Morgan Taylor, of Orangefield, said that Evans will be remembered for her ever-present smile and vivacious nature.

“She’s loud, she’s fun — there’s never a dull moment,” Taylor said. “Everybody always knows her."

Taylor, 21, met Evans several years ago through a mutual friend. The two bonded almost instantly. Taylor had her own key to Evans’ home, where she spent much of her free time.

“I pretty much lived at her house — I was basically her little sidekick,” Taylor said. “Jessica was pretty much my older sister. She took care of me, and she knows everything about me. She’s always been there for me.”

Taylor was unable to choose a favorite memory of Evans, but in nearly all of them, she said, her friend is happy.

“She’s always smiling and always laughing,” Taylor said. “That’s how we’ll remember her.”
