This event is to celebrate fathers. It is sponsored through PAISD’s Parental Involvement Center and will feature a luncheon speaker and presenters of short classes along with door prizes and a free barbecue dinner for attendees. PAISD hopes to get more fathers involved in schools By David Ball The Port Arthur News PORT ARTHUR — Mark Porterie, assistant superintendent for the Port Arthur ISD believes fathers becoming involved in their child’s schools important.
“It’s imperative fathers have a voice in their life, especially in the schools in addition to their life as well,” he said. PAISD will host its first “Dads Aware-Fair” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Port Arthur Alternative Campus at 800 53rd St. in Port Arthur. This event is to celebrate fathers. It is sponsored through PAISD’s Parental Involvement Center and will feature a luncheon speaker and presenters of short classes along with door prizes and a free barbecue dinner for attendees. The goal of the fair is to make the public aware of the importance of a dad’s involvement in his child’s education. The district believes greater successes are achieved by a student when a father is involved, both in terms of academics and character.
