BEAUMONT — A new business owner says the music scene in Southeast Texas will never be the same as Scout Bar takes over the former Antone’s with the new venue opening Friday, Oct. 24 at the historic Crockett Street Entertainment Complex.
Scout Bar-Beaumont is a multi-concept rock lounge that will feature a variety of cover bands, local, regional, and national artists plus music from a DJ to keep the party going all night. Scout Bar is 21 and up every night, except for national act shows or special events. Age requirements will be different for each show. The venue will be open Wednesday through Sunday and other nights for special events.
Scout Bar-Beaumont is the newest member of the Scout Bar family. Thomas Wilson, lead singer and founding member of the Houston rock band The Hunger, created Scout Bar some four-and-a-half years ago in Clear Lake. He said the venue became such a success Wilson expanded the brand to Scout Bar-San Antonio, which opened earlier this year.
“This is the only thing I know how to do,” said Wilson. “I know how to play music and I know the club industry. I bartended for over 15 years at different places and grew tired of working for people who really didn’t know what they were doing. I went to club after club and thought, ‘this really isn’t cool’, so I created a venue where I would like to go and hangout.”
