S.W.A.T. team responds to house on Labelle Road

A 49-year-old man is in custody after a five-hour standoff with SWAT in LaBelle.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT responded to a house on Labelle Road after the armed man barricaded himself in a trailer 11000 block of Labelle Road.
SWAT responded to a 9-1-1 call from a woman in reference to an assault about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23. The dispatcher later advised the suspect involved in the assault may be barricaded inside the house with weapons.
The patrol deputies arrived and safely evacuated the woman and a juvenile male from the scene to a safe location and set up a perimeter until SWAT could arrive
SWAT personnel determined through on scene Intel the suspect was barricaded inside a travel trailer located near the residence. During the course of the operations, SWAT attempted several times to establish contact with the suspect via cell phone and verbal contact which were all unsuccessful.
At approximately 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, SWAT attempted once again to establish verbal contact with the suspect to come out of the trailer and surrender but was unsuccessful.
After several more attempts believing the subject may try to harm him self or others SWAT made entry into the trailer and safely took the subject into custody without injuries to officers or the suspect. A loaded hand-gun was recovered near the suspect as SWAT made entry into the trailer. The suspect name is not released at this time. He was booked into to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility for assault/family violence.
