Montroy spreads joy of sharing By Darragh DoironThe Port Arthur News She works with her yarn while her husband watches football or basketball on TV, because she wants to be with her husband. She doesn’t have her eye on the game.
“I may hear it or I may not,” she said. But Montroy isn’t tied to home. Other groups have a claim on her time. “I am a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 49 years; I have held every office in various chapters over the years. Currently, I have the office of treasurer. Also, I am a member of the First Baptist Church in Groves. Her only sister, Betty Laymon, lives in Dallas. Her nephew, Richard Laymon, is a missionary in China. That busy streak is what she considers her healthy habit. “Must stay busy and be active. That’s the secret that keeps you 86 years young,” she said. Contact this reporter at ddoiron@panews.com.
