The News staff writer A community activist, a city leader and a business owner are among the candidates nominated so far in the search for The News’ 2008 Citizen of the Year. And we want more. This is your opportunity to share your appreciation of someone else’s kindness - don’t let it pass you by. Nominate a friend, a relative or a stranger who you know helps others. Let others know that good deeds don’t go unnoticed. Remember, nominations will only be accepted through Friday, Sept. 19, so get the ball rolling now so no local hero is left out. Complete the form found inside the pages of the Port Arthur News, write up a short nomination letter and send entries to The News: Attn. Citizen of the Year, 3501 Turtle Creek Drive, Port Arthur, Texas, 77642. Submissions can also be faxed to 724-6854 or e-mailed to panews@panews.com. List any civic, church and volunteer activities outside of work or any other actions taken to help the community. People who hold political office will not be considered unless the volunteer work is outside the scope of their office.
