PAISD trustees to deem gas testing and school clubs

Gas testing at 11 Port Arthur Independent School District locations will be up for approval at Thursday’s board of trustees regular meeting.
Trustees will consider approval of a low bid fro All Star Plumbing, Inc. for gas testing for Sam Houston Elementary, Port Arthur Alternative Campus, Tyrrell Elementary, Wilson at Franklin Tech, Lee Elementary, Travis Elementary, Edison Middle School, Memorial Stadium, Memorial High School, Washington Elementary and DeQueen Elementary.
The district is required every two years before the beginning of the school year, in compliance of time frames established by the Texas Railroad Commission rule, to pressure test the natural gas piping system in each district facility. The testing may be performed on a two-year cycle where the natural gas piping system is pressure tested in one-half of the facilities each year.
Approval of a Head Start local program governance will be on the agenda. Trustees will consider general procedures, bylaws, shared decision making, impasse procedures and community concerns procedures.
And lastly, the board will consider proposed student clubs and grant applications currently amounting to $27,000. The following are lists of approved student clubs and the amount of the student club award:
