GROVES — The Port Neches-Groves Independent School District board approved advertisement to promote the sale of the former bank building the district owns at 1025 Port Neches Avenue. The minimum bid will be set at $92,000. Gary Stretcher, Rusty Brittain and Darren McCutcheon were sworn in for service, all having one seat in Saturday’s election. All three had served on the board. The board elected Brittain as president, McCutcheon as vice president and James Green as secretary. The board approved the following hires: • Judith Taylor, Port Neches Elementary physical education teacher • Cynthia King, Groves Middle School nurse • Katy Boudoin, Port Neches Middle School social studies teacher • Jaime Perkins, Port Neches Middle School English and language arts teacher • Jennifer Burkett, Port Neches-Groves High School math teacher The board heard updates on bond projects and tabled recommendations regarding replacement roofs at elementary schools. Business manager Cheryl Hernandez gave a report that included word that the Groves Elementary gym was painted over spring break at a bond cost of supplies only.
