Plauche, Cox and Albright win at Sabine Pass ISD

Sabine Pass Independent School District residents elected two incumbents and one new person to fill three at-large positions on the school board.
The top three votegetters were: incumbent Lane Plauche with 100 votes; Gene Cox, another incumbent, 92 votes; and David Albright, 87 votes.
Tisha Berg received 85 votes, Cheryl Snider, 84; and Betty Adkins, 76.

PA Port propositions approved by voters

Voters overwhelmingly approved the Port of Port Arthur Navigation District’s $18.8 million two-part bond election for refinancing existing debt and for port improvements.
Proposition 1 passed by a vote of 1,268 in favor compared to 826 voting against the measure. Proposition No. 2 was approved with 1,380 voting in favor of the proposition compared to 813 voting against it.
The two propositions break down into an $8.8 million proposal for refinancing and a $10 million proposition for improvements.
Proposition No. 1 will fund improvements to wharves, docks, warehouses and other storage and terminal facilities including the acquisition of necessary lands,
Proposition No. 2 will allow the port to refinance existing debt by doing so at a lower rate.
“I think it is a tremendous response that the board of commissioners are receiving from citizens, a solid vote of confidence for the job they are doing at the Port of Port Arthur,” Floyd Gaspard, executive director at the Port of Port Arthur, said.
