Two men were arrested in connection with a possible drive-by shooting.
Port Arthur Police Street Crimes Unit and officers with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Violent Crimes Task Force received a phone call from a source who reported that some gang members were planning a drive-by shooting in the Lakeview area of Seventh Street.
A vehicle description was given — white Ford F-150 newer model truck, and officers set up surveillance. Around 12:15 a.m. Thursday officers observed a truck matching the description traveling eastbound in the 5100 block of Seventh Street at a high rate of speed.
Upon stopping the truck officers believed, based on their investigation, that the occupants were about to participate in a drive-by shooting. They recovered a .357 caliber revolver in the truck and both occupants were arrested.
The case was submitted to the District Attorney’s Office and Mario Hernandez, 18, of Port Arthur was filed on for unlawfully carrying a weapon. His bond was set at $250.
