    The Port Arthur Police Department reported to an aggravated assault at 2:43 a.m., Saturday in the 800 block Texas Ave.

    They’re boarding up “everything,” she said.
    “Rita got us good,” she said. “I’m about ready to move.”

    Sen. John McCain has named Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice-presidential candidate on the Republican ticket for the White House. Palin, 44, is in her first term as governor, and is the first woman and the youngest person to hold Alaska’s top political job.

    Patricia Graves Trass has her bags packed and is ready to leave Port Arthur. Though Tropical Storm Gustav has not even found its way into the warm Gulf of Mexico waters, she’s prepared to leave her home at a moment’s notice.
    Some would say she’s overreacting, but then they didn’t flee Katrina. They weren’t among the million or so people desperately looking for a way out of New Orleans while a monster storm barreled toward the Louisiana coast with the Crescent City dead in its sights.
