For its 2007-2008 season the Concert Association of Southeast Texas will present five concerts at the Performing Arts Center of Nederland High School. The first concert, on Sunday, Oct. 28, will feature the Houston Symphony.

On Sunday, Dec. 2, the Fort Bend Boys Choir will perform. The American Chamber Players will perform on Sunday, Jan. 20. By popular demand, the Glenn Miller Orchestra will return on Monday, Feb. 11. Ending the season will be another popular artist, French Pianist Philippe Bianconi on Monday, April 28.

Season memberships for adults are $40 for all five performances. A family membership is $90 and a single-parent-family membership is $50. Fliers and information are available by calling 727-5551 or 962-7684.

The Symphony presents 170 concerts a year, including those in Houston’s Jones Hall, outdoor performances, and tours, which have taken it to the Far East and to Europe as well as the United States. It is one of America’s oldest performing arts organizations.

Founded in 1982, the Fort Bend Boys Choir now has five performing ensembles and 200 choristers. They perform music ranging from folk to classical. The Tour Choir performs throughout North America and Europe. Members recently performed at the opening of the newly restored Sistine Chapel in Rome.

The six members of the American Chamber Players tour frequently and have done a series of special gala concerts at the Paris Opera. The group includes viola, clarinet, violin, cello, flute and piano. Founder and artistic director Miles Hoffman is music commentator for National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition.” The group performs music ranging from familiar masterpieces to neglected gems.

Though Glenn Miller disappeared on his way to Paris in 1944, his band has continued performing across the world, bringing his unique sound to admirers of the Big Band music. Larry O’Brien, who played in the original band, directs today. The 17-member band also includes two vocalists and the Moonlight Serenaders vocal group.

Philippe Bianconi, who won the Silver Medal in the seventh Van Cliburn International Competition, has performed here several times to enthusiastic audiences. He lives in Paris and performs across Europe, in Australia and Japan and with orchestras all across America. In addition he performs recitals and collaborates with chamber groups, quartets and various soloists. His performance of Rachmaninov’s “Piano Concerto No. 2” in the Paris Garnier Opera House sold out the house.

Those with season memberships can also attend the four concerts of the Livingston Concert Series at Livingston High School. Those include Franc D’Ambrosio, theatrical singer, on Oct. 18; the Harry James Orchestra on Nov. 5; “On Broadway,” a Broadway revue on March 3; and “Revolution: A Tribute to the Beatles,” on April 30.
