The Port Arthur News
We would like to say THANK YOU to the men and women who recently served as jurors on a case in Judge John Stevens court. You had to make the very hard decision (as many juries do) to grant the maximum sentence in an intoxication manslaughter case. I understand that this was not an easy decision for any of you. You also took time out of your own lives to serve this community and this court. This case was not about us, but it involved our lives and someone who was taken from us.
I would've liked to thank each of you personally and give each of you a big hug, but I was unable to do that, so not knowing any other way to tell you, We hope all 12 of you see this and know that our hearts are full of gratitude. Hopefully this will set an example for those cases still to come. Maybe people will now see that they can get more than " a slap on the wrist" for committing such an act as this.
There are no winners in this type of case, but justice was served.
May God abundantly bless each of you.
