Congratulations on UIL marching contest

— On behalf of Port Neches-Groves High School, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Port Neches-Groves High School Band, Twirlers, and Indianettes for their fine performance at the Region X marching contest that was held this past weekend. It is always exciting to see when preparation, hard work, and dedication come together in the defining moment for success. Because of this dedication and practice, the PN-G Purple Pride Band will advance to the Area level of competition to be held at Galena Park Stadium on Oct. 22.

Congratulations to the fine directors and sponsors who have helped mold and train these students for their success on the marching field of competition. These individuals include: Band Directors – Mr. Alex Wells, Mr. Philip Maldonado, Mr. Tim Pallone, and Mr. Matt LeBlanc; Indianette Directors – Mrs. Raina Nichols and Ms. Candice Hardin; Twirler Sponsor – Mrs. Kaylor Little. Your dedication and commitment of countless hours to our young people are to be commended.

A huge thank you goes out to our parents, students, and teachers who generously gave up a Saturday to help and serve in the many-faceted areas that hosting a contest of this magnitude demands. Please accept my sincere gratitude for your contributions and willingness to help make the Region X Marching Contest a wonderful success. This success would not have been possible without your hard work and dedication.

The many bands were able to experience a full day of pageantry and excitement because of everyone’s help and dedication to the band students of Region X. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend and show their support for their school’s band program. It is my hope that you enjoyed the day watching students demonstrate and celebrate what they’ve learned.

Last, but not least, is a thank you to Mr. Val Rose for his leadership and guidance over the Region X Marching contest and to the “The Showcase of Southeast Texas” Lamar University’s Band for an entertaining and wonderful performance at the end of the day.

Good luck to all of the bands who advanced to the next level of competition.

Marc Keith, Ed.D.
