Last week my husband and I were in Colorado to visit our grandson and his parents. We were at the Georgetown Loop Railroad, a local tourist attraction, when a docent, a Mr. Rich Salman, engaged us in conversation. Upon finding out I was from Port Arthur, he informed us that he had been the assistant pastor at a Church of Christ in Port Arthur (late 50's through early 60's, I believe). It's a small world indeed. Those who remember Pastor Salman will be happy to know that he is in fine health and living in God's country.
On another note, I looked up The Port Arthur News on the Internet. I was very impressed with your Web site, but sad to see the damage done to Woodrow Wilson Junior High by Hurricane Rita. I agree with Superintendent Weeks that the safety of the students is paramount and the school should be closed.
I will visit your Web site again to see the decision on Woodrow Wilson and to stay informed about my hometown.
