Rename Ninth Avenue for Sgt. Lucian Adams

I am writing after reading the article by Mr. James Briggs, concerning the path named in honor of Sgt. Lucian Adams.
Well Mr. Briggs about three years ago I confronted two Port Arthur City Council members about renaming Ninth Avenue in honor of Sgt. Adams, at least from Highway 73 to Jimmy Johnson Blvd.
One member hardly said anything. In fact, his wife was more in favor and said more than he did, but as yet, nothing.
Now the other I met in Wal-Mart and asked him the same thing. He said it would be too much trouble for the business people to change their address. I told him, here was a fellow ready to give his life to save some of his buddies and you say that it is too much trouble.
If I ever run across Mayor Ortiz I will ask him the same, I hope, with better luck than the other two.
Yes, this medal of honor winner needs more than a “pig tail” in his honor. I still say rename Ninth Avenue in his honor. Come on Port Arthur. Quit being disgraceful and show some pride for a soldier ready to give his life so you could have what you have today.
