The Beauxart Gardens residents amaze me. Not only have they chosen to live outside the city limits where there are no restrictions and anyone or anything can be build or live where or how they want to. But when the first thing that is coming into their neighborhood is a foster home for low risk children they are up in arms.
One of God’s greatest gifts to us is children and Fellowship Baptist Church in Nederland saw a need that they could fulfill by operating this home. Not only should these residents support such a home, but the fact that it is being run by a church such as Fellowship Baptist that not only has a good name in our community but has shown over the years to have an exemplary program for youth amazes me even more.
I do not belong to Fellowship Baptist in fact I’m a Methodist but I support 100 percent what they are doing and just hope all the other churches and residents in the Mid-County area will get behind this project and support it 100 percent. Remember these children are not criminals they are children that have been abandoned, abused and/or neglected by their parents. They are at an age when living in a home environment such as this can help shape their lives for the future and help them become contributing citizens in our community.
The pastor, staff and congregation of Fellowship Baptist should be congratulated on their love and concern for the youth of Southeast Texas.
