I wonder if some of our schools are not becoming more of a penal colony than a house of education.
When a student is sent to jail for one cigarette being found in a unlegal search and fined over $250 plus getting punished at school is outragous. For smoking a cigarette yes, but who knows how a pack with one cigarette got in the student’s jacket.
Another student was punished for “telling the truth.” That was the explanation when the vice principal was asked about the punishment. “If he had told a lie instead of what I know to be the truth, there would have been no punishment.”
I am 79 years old and one student is the only one I can contact if something happens to me yet the student is punished for checking his text messages or calling to check on me.
Something is wrong.
