The early bird gets the worm — or, at least in this case, the book.
Friends of the Groves Public Library are holding their Spring Book Sale this week and early birds, or Members Only, can get first pick from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Non-members can still get in with the early birds.
“We have a new feature that allows non-members to shop Tuesday for a fee of $5,” Marty Godwin, member of the Friends group, said.
The sale will open to the public Wednesday and Thursday during regular library hours and from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.
Shoppers can choose from a wide variety of titles, fiction and non-fiction, hardbacks, paperbacks and oversized books. There are books on crafts and hobbies, children’s and teens books, cookbooks, books on tape, DVD’s, CD’s and VHS tapes, inspirational and self-help titles and special interest items.
“The Friends of the Library worked really hard to gather a quite large collection of large print books,” Godwin added.
The FOL is also working on a fundraising project for a chance to win a Cracker Barrel rocking chair with a garden hat, flower basket, gardening tools and gloves, two glasses with jeweled doilies, drink pitcher, coffee cup, tea bags, two spring magazines and a box of chocolates.
Tickets are $1 or six for $5 and are available at the circulation desk. All proceeds benefit the library. The drawing will be held May 7, just in time for Mother’s Day.
The Groves Public Library is located at 5600 West Washington, in Groves.
