Jared's Paint and Body named Groves Small Business of the Year

GROVES — GROVES — Jared Trimble thought it was just a routine meeting with potential clients.

Instead, the owner of Jared’s Paint and Body stepped outside of his shop, located at 4349 N. Link St., on Tuesday to find representatives from the Groves Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Center, along with several family members — including mom Tuesday, wife Jo and 8-month-old twin sons, Karson and Korbin — to present him with the 2014 Groves Small Business of the Year award.

“It’s a great achievement for such a young business,” Trimble said.

Wife Jo beamed at her husband, holding his award in one hand with Korbin on his hip, as she and Karson looked on.

“I’m very proud of him,” Jo Trimble said. “Everybody pulls together to make it a great shop, and this makes it feel like all the hard work was worth it.”

Trimble, who was nominated by friend Jeff Landry, previously worked at a different auto body shop in Groves until he decided to start his own in July 2011.

“It was time,” Trimble said. “I wanted to continue to provide a better service for the people of Groves.”

Trimble began his business with four employees. Three years later, that number has increased to 12. With the number of cars that pull up to his shop in need of repairs growing every day, Trimble plans to relocate to a larger building down the street within a month — no small feat for a man who celebrated his 30th birthday on Monday.

“He’s always been one to go the extra mile,” Tuesday Trimble said of her son.

But Trimble credits his expanding business to his employees.

“It’s my name on the logo, but it takes all my guys,” he said. “It’s not just a catchy name — it’s a brand that we have. It takes everybody’s input, and we’re growing every day.”

Although Trimble accepted his award humbly, he couldn’t resist one joke.

“When I build my new shop, do I get a big business award?” he said.
