Christmas Tree Trail leads to Groves

GROVES —  Shoppers don’t need to look for a yellow brick road to find some bargains and holiday snacks just head down the Christmas Tree Trail to Groves instead.

Thirty local businesses are participating in this year’s event which is held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 and sponsored by the Groves Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Center.

“The community is invited to join the Chamber in ushering in the Christmas season with this exciting promotion,” Ronnie Boneau, executive director of the Chamber, said. ‘This special event is an opportunity for you to tour and see the newest in Christmas decorations, gifts, holiday attire, food, ideas and more.”

Alli Meaux of William’s Florist and Gifts Inc., 5890 32nd St., is gearing up for the annual festivities.

“We’d like to get people in and get them in the Christmas spirit,” Meaux said. “We will have discounts on items purchased that day, yummy goodies and a door prize drawing.”

Meaux said this is a way to come and shop and not feel pressured, get some ideas for the holidays and maybe pick up something new for the tree.
