    Thursday, the board of directors for the Groves Chamber of Commerce regretfully accepted the resignation of Executive Manager, Patti Wolfe, after seven years of dedicated service to the city of Groves.

    Fire trucks were wailing and the lights were flashing, but there was no emergency, it was just the Groves Fire Department’s annual open house.

  • Groves man arrested for injury to a child
    Thomas Lynn Hunter, a 19 year old who recently moved from Woodville to Groves, has been arrested and placed in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. Hunter was arraigned Wednesday morning on a charge of 1st degree felony of injury to a child in Judge Leonard Giblin’s courtroom. Bond is set at $40,000.

    The rides and games are set up, the food is on its way, and the carnival workers are looking forward to hearing the laughs and squeals of Pecan Festival attendees on the rides.
