PA’s Brittani Washington to perform on BET Sunday

Port Arthur native Brittani Washington will perform at the Black Girls Rock 2012 Concert to be aired on BET at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4. Black Girls Rock is a non-profit organization which seeks to build the self esteem and self worth of young woman of color.

Washington began her career at an age when most kids are only thinking about cartoons. At the age of 7, she was the primary pianist for Christ Temple New Life, the church of her parents, Ronald and Maybelline Washington, where she played for 14 years. She spent those years honing her skills and establishing a foundation that would be the groundwork for her professional career. She has also developed an organization for kids who are passionate about the arts. Giving kids a chance to perform in front of a live audience and live out their dream.

Washington went on to study music, acting, and modern dance at Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern University respectively. She simultaneously took advantage of local performance opportunities, competitions and continued building a name for herself. The nationwide audition call went out for Pop diva Beyonce’s all female band and Washington not only responded but made the cut transcending the other 5,000 females who aspired for the same opportunity. Washington has been touring with Beyonce for four years.

She is also one of the many faces used to promote House of Dereon. This experience has rendered incredible international visibility and success, in addition to the realization of her dreams. She has performed and played for artists like Kanye West, Jay-Z, George Michaels, Destiny Child, Myra Washington, Tia Fuller, and most importantly President Barack Obama. In addition to playing with artists, she has performed on TV shows like Oprah, Ellen Degeneres, Tyra Banks, Good Morning America, The View, The Grammys, BET Awards, MTV Awards, Fashion Rocks, Soul Train Awards, NAACP Awards, and The Todays Show. She has also done her share in charity work, visiting and uplifting children with cancer all over the world and being an inspiration to many. Brittani is an accomplished artist in her own right and has just released her album “Space Music”.
