Ruthie Wolfe, Port Neches-Groves cheerleading sponsor, shared news that all three squads attending summer camps took home heaps of honors.
“All three teams are looking forward to the upcoming football season and school year,” Wolfe reports. “With the anticipation of the new stadium being completed, everyone is excited about what these cheerleaders will bring to the student body and the community. Watch for announcements about their first public performances: First Friday in August in Groves and the Fire Up Pep Rally right before school starts.”
Wolf also encourages a community of pride.
“Please start thinking now about what you can do to pump up the spirit and show your Purple Pride. These cheerleaders may start the cheers, but it takes everyone to get the spirit flowing. Do your part by joining in and remember: Real Indians always stand for Cherokee,” she said.
“Christian” the vote
Gloria Arceneaux sent an e-mail to thank The News for telling the area about her son Aron being in a Christian talent search contest.
Aron Arceneaux, 22, of Port Neches, said God gave him a voice the he lifts to the Lord.
“I believe God has called me to do this,” Arceneaux said. “I try my best to use it for his glory.”
Arceneaux is in the third round of a talent search contest for a Christian music artist. Fans can visit www.liveprayer.com to watch a video and vote for him through July 26. The final round will end Aug. 28 and the prize will take the winner to Nashville with plans of recording.
Fresh in Groves
Fresh oil signs dot the streets of Groves. Politicians said they wanted to get busy with road repair. Looks like they’re paving the way to a promise.
