The following incidents were reported to the Groves Police Department during the week:
Wednesday, Jan. 31
• Theft of checkbook in the 5000 block of Doyle
• 17 year old female arrested for possession of marijuana in the 7100 block of Terrell
• Forgery of check at 6001 39th Street
Thursday, Feb. 1
• Telephone line cut in the 2300 block of Little John
• 15 year old runaway located in Port Arthur and returned home
• 40 year old male was arrested after the vehicle he was operating struck a child on a bicycle at Cleveland and 32nd Street and then left the scene
Friday, Feb. 2
• Check forged and passed in the 6000 block of 39th Street
Saturday, Feb. 3
• 35 year old male was found to be in possession of marijuana and had outstanding Port Arthur city warrants after a traffic stop in the 4700 block of Twin City Hwy.
• 22 year old male was arrested for driving while license invalid in the 5100 block of E. Parkway
• A 43 year old female was arrested for public intoxication in the 5200 block of Wilson
Sunday, Feb. 4
• Vehicle recovered that was reported stolen on December 24, 2006 from 5101 E. Parkway. The vehicle was found at 6259 Gulfway Drive.
• Lock cut at a storage unit at 6110 Winona
• Child attacked by dog in the 6700 block of 25th Street
Monday, Feb. 5
• Reported telephone harassment
• Officers dispatched to Hwy. 73 and 32nd Street in reference to a possible intoxicated driver. The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana.
• Motel management at 5101 E. Parkway reported damage to the inside of a motel room.
• Guest of motel at 5101 E. Parkway reported being assaulted an robbed of her purse by a black male.
Tuesday, Feb. 6
• Tire cut in the 4900 block of Sue
• A 29 year old male was arrested on an outstanding Jefferson County felony warrant at his residence in the 6000 block of Hogaboom. Subsequent to the warrant arrest, a large amount of controlled substance was found inside the residence.
TIP OF THE WEEK: If a motorist bothers you while you are walking, turn around and walk in the opposite direction of the car. Do this as often as necessary and he should get discouraged.
