— Turkey baskets to be distributed

The Babineaux Family Foundation and Jamaal Charles Youth Matters Family Foundation will be distributing their annual Thanksgiving Turkey Basket from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, at Sacred Heart Hall 911 Abe Lincoln. The baskets will be distribute to 200 local families. The required identification will be photo identification and utility bill (proof of address).

Groves Friends of Library to meet

GROVES — The Friends of the Groves Public Library organization will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the library, located at 5600 West Washington in Groves, with President Marty Godwin presiding.

Agenda items include a review of the annual fall book sale held in October, final plans for the annual Christmas party, and a report of the nominating committee, with election of officers to follow. Interested individuals may also join the Friends organization at the meeting.

There are four tiers of yearly memberships available: Individual ($5), Family ($10), Special Friend ($25), and Best Friend ($50). The Friends of the Groves Public Library organization exists for the benefit of the library.

Chamber seeks small business nominations

The Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce will be taking nominations from the public through Wednesday for the 2013 Small Business in the Year. The recipient of this award will be honored at the chamber’s 113th Annual Banquet, which takes place on Jan. 22. The public may nominate themselves, but they must be members of the Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce. Nomination forms can be found on the chamber’s website,

City of Port Arthur offers Zumba classes

Port Arthur’s Parks and Recreation Department is offering Zumba classes from 11 to 11:30 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Port Arthur Recreation Center, 1308 Ninth Ave.

Classes are free. Zumba is a Latin dance based fitness program. For more information call 409-983-8152.
