Seminar teaches grant writing

C.I.D.A Inc. (Community In-Power Development Association Inc.) will host a Grant Writing Seminar hosted by Irving Henderson, president of Henderson and Company Development Consultation Firm and a member of the National Trust for Historical Preservation board.
The event will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22 at the Ramada Inn in Port Arthur.
At the seminar, those who own, or are thinking about starting a non-profit business or organization can learn the tricks of the trade when it comes to writing grant proposals to gain or continue funding for their non-profit, find out about the grants currently available in the Port Arthur area and see what you have to do to apply for those grants.
Special invited guests include the Port Arthur Communities Fund and the Greater Houston Community Foundation.
A $10 contribution is required to attend this seminar. Those interested can pre-register at the Port Arthur Public Library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20. Please be sure to bring your driver’s license or state ID card. Those who are interested and cannot afford the $10 tuition fee can request a waiver during registration. Seating is limited.
CIDA Inc. will also be holding a mixer following the seminar to allow area business owners and aspiring business owners to mix and mingle and learn new exciting things in the professional world and opportunites to start their own business in Port Arthur. The mixer is free and open to the public.
Officials with CIDA Inc. will inform Golden Triangle residents on how to protect themselves from an environment that could harm them in our industrial town.
