Port Neches-Groves High School cheerleaders took top honors at summer camps.
The varsity and junior varsity squads attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas and the freshman squad attended the Texas Sports Ranch in Crosby. Sponsor Ruthie Wolfe attended the squads.

Port Neches-Groves High School cheerleaders took top honors at summer camps.
The varsity and junior varsity squads attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas and the freshman squad attended the Texas Sports Ranch in Crosby. Sponsor Ruthie Wolfe attended the squads.
The varsity squad took home the champion chant honor in their division, the JV took home the champion chant in their division, and the freshmen took home the game day top team honor in their division.
The varsity squad is made up of five seniors and seven juniors including Lindsay Begnaud, Starr Brocato, Cami Burnett, Chelsea Hammonds, Erin Hebert, Alexis Hollier, Jeremy Gregg, Krista Prince, Brooke Roy, Ali Scott (co-head cheerleader), Morgan Thigpen and Lauren Verret (co-head cheerleader).
After four days of hard work and amid mor than 1,000 cheerleaders from around the state, the varsity team also brought home the following honors: The Herkie Team Award for leadership and teamwork; Technical Excellence in Tumbling; SPOT Safety for Stunting; four excellent performance ribbons; two superior performance ribbons; three Spirit Sticks; and A Bid to the NCA National Championships. All embers were nominated for All-American and six of those were elected to the All-American Team. They are Begnaud, Brocato, Gregg, Hollier, Scott and Verret. Three seniors also received an invitation to apply for NCA Staff after graduation. They are Brocato, Gregg and Scott.
The junior varsity squad is made up of nine sophomores and one junior including Taylor Chatagnier, Melissa Conley, Mallory Fontenot, Madison Hicks, Mauri James, Lauren Kyler, Katelyn Provost, Shalyn Roccaforte, Morgan Sims and Cori Spencer. During their four days of camp, the JV also earned the following honors: The Herkie Team Award; SPOT Safety for Stunting; five superior performance ribbons; 1 excellent performance ribbon; three Spirit Sticks; and A Bid to the NCA National Championships. All members were nominated for All-American and four of those were elected to the All-American Team. They are Chatagnier, Hicks, Kyler and Roccaforte.
The Freshman squad is made of ten freshmen including: Tori Chatagnier, Hillary Coy, Kelsey Cross, Dara Floyd, Kristen Golman, Braye Hardy, Mariah Kyler, Jordain Royer, Alex Weber and Mikayla Williams. During their four days of camp, the freshmen received the following honors: Technical Excellence in Jumps; three superior performance ribbons; two excellent performance ribbons; one outstanding performance ribbon; three Spirit Sticks; and A Bid to the NCA National Championships. Four members were nominated for All-American and three of those were elected to the All-American Team. They are Golman, Kyler and Roccaforte.
All three teams are looking forward to the upcoming football season and school year. With the anticipation of the new stadium being completed, everyone is excited about what these cheerleaders will bring to the student body and the community. Watch for announcements about their first public performances—First Friday in August in Groves and the Fire Up Pep Rally right before school starts.
