Auto pedestrian fatality in Port Arthur

PORT ARTHUR — The Port Arthur Police Department responded to a call regarding an auto pedestrian accident Tuesday, Feb. 25.

PAPD received the call at approximately 10:25 p.m. and were dispatched to the 8400 block of U.S. 69. Once officers arrived that found a suspect was attempting to cross the freeway on foot and was struck by a vehicle in the northbound lanes of traffic. The pedestrian died at the scene. Justice of the Peace Gillam responded and requested an inquest. As of Wednesday morning the victim has not been identified and no charges have been filed.
