WEDDINGS



Guidry-Chambless

Brooke Erin Guidry became the bride of Clinton Todd Chambless on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 7:00 in the evening at St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland. Reverend Shane Baxter officiated at the double-ring ceremony, which was followed by dinner and dancing at the Brad Club. Music was provided by Rick Marcel and the Radiance Band, with Ben Phillips serving as DJ. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Esther’s Seafood.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kent M. Guidry of Orange and is a 1998 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and a 2002 graduate of Lamar Institute of Technology where she earned an associates degree in radiology. Brooke is employed as a MRI technologist with The Medical Center of Southeast Texas.

The bridegroom is the son of Ms. Debby Radcliff and Mr. and Mrs. Jaime J., Chambless all of Nederland and is a 1998 graduate of Nederland High School and graduated in 2001 from Lamar Institute of Technology. Clint holds an associates degree in process operating and is employed with BASF in Port Arthur.

Music was provided by members of the Houston String Quartet and Jeff Roy, Kirk Ellender, Cory McMains, and Taylor Bellow provided the vocals. Scripture readers were Jeslyn Roy and Kristen Bradshaw.

Attending the bride as matron of honor was her sister, Lindsay Davis. Bridesmaids were Sheigh Summerlin, Staci Barnett, Kim McMains, Jill Guidry, Lindsey Mercer, Lene’ Smith, Marche’ Hearn, Miranda Ryan, and Lyndsi Chambless. Kennadi Bellow, Vicki Guidry, Hallie McMains, and Macie McMains were flower girls. Tristan May and Wilson Guidry served as ring bearers. House party members were Kristen Bradshaw, Jenny Faseler, Rachel Louviere, Jill Ross, Angie Stelly, and Megan Street.

Derek Chambless, the groom’s twin brother, served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Aubrey Brisendine, Cory Haynes, Cory McMains, Drek M. Guidry, Todd Tolbert, Reid C. Guidry, Brett Wilson, Marc Fumuso, and Session Davis. Tim Farris and Bryon Herman seated the guests.

Following their honeymoon in the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Nederland.



Foulk-Zampini

Amy Rene’ Foulk became the bride of Rodney Craig Zampini Wednesday, July 25, 2006 in Riviera Maya, Mexico at the Aventura Spa Palace.

The Bride is the daughter of William and Belinda Foulk and the granddaughter of Robert and Dorothy Foulk, as well as Winfred and the late Pat Wright all of Port Neches, Texas.

The Groom is the son of Randy and Cindy Zampini and the grandson of the late Louis and Dorothy Zampini, as well as the late Harry and Elizabeth Heinen, all of Groves, Texas.

The Bride and Groom’s parents hosted a reception at the home of Jeff and Verlene Buchanan on July 29, 2006 at 7:00 in the evening. Pastor Ralph Foster blessed the marriage at 7:30 p.m. and dinner and dancing followed.

Amy is a 1998 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and graduated from Lamar University. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. She is employed with NISD as a second grade teacher in San Antonio, Texas.

Rodney is a 1998 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and graduated from the Electric Training Center Local 479 as a Journeyman Electrician. He is employed by Wolfgang Fey Electric in San Antonio, Texas. The couple will reside in San Antonio, Texas.



Shields-Dankins

First Six Street Baptist Church was the setting for the Saturday afternoon ceremony, uniting Yolanda L. Shields and Willie O’neal Dankins Jr. Reverend Wayne Morris officiated.

Attending the couple were Maid of honor, Abbie Buckley; Bridesmaids, Sherrold Alpough, Janice Carrier, Dayna Dennis, Shakisha Shields, Demetrious Jenkins, Felicia Ratliff, Annie Batiste, Cynthia Moore, Angela Washington, Bertha Rhine; Best Man, Willie Dankins III; Groomsmen, Curtis Alpough, Robert Ford, Randle Davis, James Ratliff, Brandon Jenkins, Paul Eaglin, Stevenson Moore III, Reginald McClain, Kendrick Roach, Clarence Rhine; Jr. Bride Jasmine Hall; Jr. Groom, Trey Buckley; Flower Girls, Breanna Jenkins, Kemyra Valsin, and Victoria Jenkins; Ring Bearer, Morgan Moody, Town Crier, Kadajia Valsin; Ushers were Jazzmine Dennis, Dineshia Eaglin, and Sedonia Ratliff. The Bride was escorted by her father, Sterling Shields Jr. and her son Jason Shields.

Following a trip to San Antonio the couple will live in Port Arthur, Texas.



ENGAGEMENTS



Ford-Bates

Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Ford of Port Arthur announce the engagement of their daughter, Amber Charrise Ford to Christopher Lynn Bates, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clay Roy.

The Bride is a 2003 graduate of Memorial High School. She is currently attending Lamar University as a Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Amber is employed with the Five Point Credit Union in Port Arthur.

The Groom is also a 2003 graduate of Memorial High School. Christopher is a Junior at Lamar University and is pursuing a Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. He is currently employed at Academy in Port Arthur and Minister of Music at New Pilgrim Baptist Church in Beaumont.

The couple plans to Marry at 5:00 p.m. on August 5, 2006 at New St. John Missionary Baptist Church.



Broussard-Bearden

Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Broussard of Nederland, Texas are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Kristine Marie Broussard to Jeremy Paul Bearden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bearden of Port Neches, Texas.

Kristine is a 2002 graduate of Nederland High School and a 2006 graduate of Lamar University with a Degree of Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management. She is employed by Conn’s Corporate Office in Beaumont, Texas.

Jeremy is a 2001 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and a 2006 graduate from Lamar Institute of Technology with a Certification as a Peace Officer. He is employed by the Port Arthur Police Department.

The wedding is planned for October 21, 2006 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland, Texas.



Wooding-Collins

Mr. and Mrs. James Wooding, Jr. of Nederland announce the engagement of their daughter, Brooke Wooding, to Eric Collins, son of Mr. and Mrs. David M. Collins of Port Neches. The Bride is a 2003 graduate of Nederland High School and is currently attending Lamar University in Beaumont, where she plans to graduate in 2007 with a degree in Marketing. She is employed by Texas State Bank.

The prospective Groom is a 2001 graduate of Nederland High School and a 2005 graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont, where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration. He is employed by Cavett, Turner, and Wyble, LLP.

The couple plans to marry on August 12, 2006 at Ridgewood Church with Pastor Carl Durden officiating.



Bonura-Guidry

Mr. and Mrs. Jay L. Bonura of Nederland announce the engagement of their daughter, Lindsey Bonura to Amos Guidry, III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Guidry, Jr. of Mont Belvieu.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Nederland High School and graduated from Lamar State College. She holds an Associate Degree as a Legal Assistant and is employed by Brent Coon and Associates.

The prospective groom is a 2000 graduate of Lumberton High School and attended Lamar University. He is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps.

The couple plans to marry at 6:00 p.m. on August 26, 2006 at Wesley Methodist Church.



Flores-Gonzales

Mr. Elizar Flores of Edcouch, Texas announce the engagment of his son, Jose A. Flores to Adela C. Gonzales, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Crescencio Gonzales, Sr.

The Bride is a 1985 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. She is employed by Dillard’s. The prospective Groom is a 1988 graduate of Edcouch-Elsa High School. He is employed by CBH Service-RIFE Industries. The couple plan to marry at 6:00 p.m. on August 5, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur, Texas.



Joseph - Rodgers

Evette M. Joseph and Nablaka Rodgers of Port Arthur are pleased to announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

The wedding celebration will take place at the Department Club on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 4:00 p.m.

Evette is a teacher with the Port Arthur Independent School District. Nablaka is a foreman with James Construction.

The couple will schedule a holiday honeymoon to Kemah, Texas. They will reside in Port Arthur.



ANNIVERSARIES



Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Dowden

Wayne and Myrtle Dowden of Nederland will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a private reception to be followed by a public concert from 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 5. and concert at First Baptist Church of Nederland, 1911 Nederland Ave. The celebration will be hosted by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Myrtle Lee Nixon and Lairon Wayne Dowden were married on Aug. 4, 1956 in Port Arthur, Texas. Both are members of First Baptist Church of Nederland. Both were employed by Lamar University of Beaumont and both were owner operators of American Electric and United Electric.

Their Children are: Lairon (Larry) and Nena Dowden, Philip and Cheryl Dowden, Rene and Charles Jones and Lynn Rush and Kelly Sanderson.



Mr. and Mrs. William Jackson

William and Dorothy Jackson of Port Arthur celebrated their 60th anniversary on July 21, with friends and relatives.

William and Dorothy were married on July 21, 1936. Both were born and raised in Port Arthur. William retired from Gulf Oil Corp. with 37.5 years of service and Dorothy is a homemaker.

The couple has two children: Linda and Rick Condrey of Port Arthur and Gary and Lisa Jackson of Baytown.



The Rev. & Mrs. Mell Williams, Jr.

The Rev. Mell and Mrs. Willow Mae Simon Williams celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. They were married on July 29, 1946 in Beaumont, Texas.

They have six children: Mell III and wife, Wanda of Winnie, Texas; Mona Hayes and husband, Donald of Port Arthur; Willow Bernard, Shirley Wells and husband, Joseph; Randy and wife, Glynis and Larry all of Beaumont; and they have fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. They have served as pastor and wife of New Light Baptist Church in Port Arthur, Texas for 45 years.
