Mr. and Mrs. Vollie Clewis
Vollie and Elizabeth Clewis of Port Arthur celebrated their 50th anniversary at sunset on June 3, 2006, with a family dinner at Oasis Restaurant in Austin. The celebration was hosted by their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. The couple was presented with a special album of photos and other memories from friends and family.
Elizabeth Ann Smith and Vollie Buel Clewis were married on June 2,1956, at Procter Street Church of Christ in Port Arthur, Texas.
Liz was born and raised in Port Arthur. Vollie was born in Thornton and moved to Port Arthur after his discharge from the Air Force in 1953. Vollie and Liz met at a Thomas Jefferson High School football game in November of 1953. Both were employed by the Texas Company Texaco. Vollie was an operator and Liz was a clerk. In earlier years, both were active volunteers in PTA, Camp Fire and TJ's Band Booster Club. Liz and Vollie enjoy gardening, camping, fishing and hunting. Both are members of Park Central Church of Christ.
The couple has a daughter, Suenda Kirk and 2 grand-daughters all of Georgetown.
