Lamar has dismissed two of its key players from last season’s run to the National Invitational Softball Championship finals.

Coach Holly Bruder announced the dismissals of outfielder Brittany Rodriguez and infielder Sable Hankins on Monday morning due to undisclosed violations of team rules. Rodriguez, a three-time first-team All-Southland Conference player, led the Cardinals with a .388 batting average, batted in 24 runs and hit a home run while starting 64 games. Hankins was tied for second on the team in batting at .313, but she led the Cards with six home runs.

Rodriguez has transferred to Louisiana and will play for the Ragin’ Cajuns this season. UL announced her addition to the roster Sunday.
