PNG storms past Anahuac in girls hoops

PORT NECHES — Port Neches-Groves overcame a 20-point deficit and made clutch free throws down the stretch to beat Anahuac 56-53 Tuesday in girls basketball.

Harlee Barnwell made free throws to put the Indians in front in the final quarter. She and Mollee Priddy each had 12 points, while Maylin Stampley led PNG (5-4) with 14 points. Holly Jones added six points.

The Indians relied on defense with the play of Shelby Letulle and Julissa Gomez in the win.

Anahuac led 36-28 at halftime and 46-36 after three quarters.
