Reverend James “Jim” Durdin

Reverend James “Jim” Durdin, 79, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.

Jim was born February 15, 1938 in Jasper, Texas to James M. Durdin, Sr. and Katherine Yarborough Durdin.  He was a graduate of Beaumont High and a resident of this area for more than 55 years.

Jim was the owner and manager of Skillman Furniture Store for 40 years, and was a retired minister of Woodcrest Baptist Church in Groves. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-1966.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Suella Skillman Durdin of Port Arthur; three daughters, Michele Singleton and husband Alan of Groves, Cathy C. Willenborg and husband David of Dallas, Amy Ferro and husband Dennis of Spring Branch; brother, Richard A. Durdin and wife Dorothy of Medford, N.J.; five grandchildren, Michael and James Singleton, Tyler and Haley Ferro, and Ella Willenborg.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Dr. Phil Sigman, pastor of Central Baptist Church of Port Arthur officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
