Mary Ann Stuckey Root, 85 of Groves died Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Oak Grove Nursing Home in Groves.

Mary Ann was born on December 18, 1931 in Port Arthur, Texas to William Orrick Stuckey, Sr. and Mary Jane Stuckey. She was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur and spent 25 years in Jasper, Texas loving the easy life and the people of Jasper, before returning home to Groves. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend to everyone she knew. Mary Ann never met a stranger.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence R. Root, Jr., her parents and her only brother William Orrick Stuckey, Jr.

Mary Ann is survived by four sons, Ronald Root and wife Angie of Groves, Glenn Root and wife Terry of Groves, Donald Root of Lufkin, Larry Root and wife Rebecca of Brookeland, Texas; two daughters, Linda Baumgartner and husband Terry of Houston and Peggy McMourrough and husband Joe of Jasper, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2017 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
