Francisco Alvarez Garcia, 37, of Winnie was killed Sunday in a two vehicle head-on collision on Highway 124 in Fannett.  The crash occurred just south of FM 365 in Jefferson County at about 6 p.m. Sunday.

Garcia was traveling southbound on Highway 124 in Fannett in a 2010 Nissan car. A 2014 Dodge pickup truck was traveling northbound on Highway 124. Troopers suspect that Garcia crossed the center stripe and collided head-on with the Dodge.  This information is preliminary and a final conclusion to this crash investigation will not be completed until all witness statements have been collected.

The driver of the Dodge pickup truck, Terrant Durham, 29, of Lumberton, was transported to Baptist hospital with non life threatening injuries.  Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.

All lanes of Highway 124 were closed for a brief period, but have since reopened. This fatal crash investigation is in the preliminary stages and further details will be released as information is confirmed.
