Weekend violence spills over; shooting at Prince Hall Apartments

A shooting at Prince Hall Apartments early Tuesday morning is likely related to murder and shootings that occurred over the Easter weekend.

Port Arthur Police responded to Prince Hall Apartments in the 900 block of West 14th Street at about 1:09 a.m. April 2 in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers located one victim that had suffered a gunshot wound. The victim told officers that several men began firing shots from the roadway into the apartment complex.

The victim was transported to Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth in Beaumont for treatment. His injury is not believed to be life threatening, according to a press release from PAPD.

Police believe this shooting is related to two shootings that occurred on Saturday.

On Saturday a disturbance between two groups erupted into violence outside Old School Shack, 901 Houston Ave. Marcus John “Big Country” Senegal, 29, received a gunshot wound to the abdomen and died from his injuries. A second person received a gunshot wound to the leg.

Shortly after, a second exchange of gunfire occurred at Prince Hall Apartments and two people received gunshot wounds.

PAPD is asking anyone with information about this shooting or the others that occurred over the weekend to contact the police department.

PAPD’s Street Crimes Unit and Criminal Investigations Division are handling the investigation.
